It's my birthday!!

Also, I have a new job now and I love it! I quit at Super 10 around two weeks ago after my boss went out on sick leave. To make a long story short, I wrote a very long letter to the home office (the CEO of Variety Wholesalers) detailing the crap that's been going on in the company. The letter got passed down to the district manager's boss, and the reply I got from him was that Steve (the district manager) is just "under a lot of stress." If we talked to customers the way he talks to us, we'd be fired on the spot. But anyway!

So now I work at the Omni Royal Orleans in the French Quarter as a In-Room Dining Order Taker. I actually really like it! They people I work with are really nice and cool. My normal shift is at night, but at the end of next week I am going to be working a few morning shifts and I am not looking forward to that. But hey, a job is a job.

What else has been going on with me? Good things, I am happy to report. I closed the secured Visa that I had with Capital One about a month ago and opened an unsecured Journey Rewards Card (for students) with them and they gave me a $2,000 credit line! That's my biggest credit card yet! To think, two years ago, no credit card company would give me a credit line and now I have almost $4,000 in established, unsecured credit! I am not going to open anymore credit cards either. I just want the ones I have now to increase my limits and I will be happy. :) I also joined a credit union through my job, so hopefully that will help me as well.

What else? Oh, I made the Dean's List again for the second semester in a row. I have a 3.66 GPA now. :) Next semester, my last at Delgado, should be the easiest and I should get all A's.

Enough for tonight. It's been a long day and I need my sleeps.

What a damn day!

I was having such a good week and then what happens? Todd was sick for the past few days because he swallowed a bit of a plastic bag (he's fine today though). While I was comforting him, I failed to realize that my cell phone fell out of my pocket and into his bowl of water. I have no idea how long it's been in there, but it's officially kaputt now. Then, this morning, after Joe dropped me off at school, he got into an accident. At least it wasn't his fault this time. :/ I need some good karma right now!! lol.

In a serious effort to become more organized next semester, I am going to scan every single page of notes and save them to .pdf files. That way, if something happens to them, I can find them easily by just printing them out. I guess that's my new semester resolution.

Also, I am not taking any summer classes this year. The way I see it, I am not going to come off of extra money when I am just going to be left with b/s classes in the spring. I can finally get some rest! Not really. I'll probably be trying to get ahead on Chemistry II and Microbiology (if I can get that override). We'll see.

It's bedtime now, folks. Night!

Happy Easter, everyone!

I am so happy that I have this Easter off. I don't have anything in particular planned, but I worked the last three Sundays in a row (Sundays are my only day off since I'm in school). I am thinking about taking Todd to the park today -- I haven't taken him yet since I got him.

Maybe I will go get my eyebrows waxed today. Hmmm...I have my English research paper to work on, the second room to thoroughly clean so I can get back to my business, and the kitchen to clean. I haven't really had time to unpack yet. I have so much stuff to put away. :( I also have a bit of gardening to do today - just a little trimming here and there and maybe some transplanting. The highlight of my day. lol. Maybe I'll take some pictures and post them when I'm finished.

Oh well. I have to get in the tub so I can get my day started. It's already late.

Well, I decided to start a garden this summer! I think I kind of took on more than I could handle, though. I don't expect every plant to produce. Right now I am growing cherry tomatoes (three are going to be red soon!), Creole tomatoes (a few are coming in now), zucchini, red bell pepper, jalapeno peppers (one pepper is almost finished growing), okra, spearmint, Hungarian yellow pepper, cayenne pepper (maybe--I bought a pepper mix seed packet and this was one of the possibilities), sage, thyme, rosemary, pineapple sage, oregano and basil. Whew! I have the herbs growing in small pots and hanging on the porch right now. I love it!

In other news, school is almost out for the semester! I can't believe this year has gone by so fast. I have one more test for Chemistry on Tuesday (which I need to study like mad for). I think we have one more Calculus test left too. I don't have a final for English because the research paper we are doing will count enough for that. Of course, once grades are posted, I will post them here. :)

I am still on the fence about whether I am going to UNO next semester, since I have a few classes left to take at Delgado. However, I do know that I will be taking Engineering Economics over the summer. If I do go to Delgado in the fall, my schedule will be:

8:00-9:15 : Physical Geology
11:00-12:15 : Elementary French I
12:30-1:45 : Structure of Western Thought: Ancient Greece (Honors) *
2:00-3:15 : Art History I *
5:30-6:45 : British Literature I (Honors) *

* Classes I need at UNO. The other two are two I figure will at least help me out with my major, or maybe even just for personal enrichment. :)

Update is due, right?

School is still going beautifully so far. All A-averages except my arch nemesis, Calculus. Always a B. :/ At least my test averages are higher than they were last semester.

Tomorrow I have an interview for a scholarship to attend a globalization seminar in Salzburg, Austria. I applied for it at the end of March and made it through the first of two rounds. I am really nervous about, but I definitely have my fingers crossed. In my mind, it's a shot in the dark, but it's something I care deeply about. I've never really left the country before except twice when I just crossed the border into Canada, but that was before you needed a passport to cross the border. I guess we will see!

School update---It's almost midterms!

So far this semester, school is actually going pretty well. I only have one semester left at Delgado (thank God). In Calculus II, I have an 85 B average so far (85's on both tests); in Chemistry I lecture, a 90.5 A; in Chemistry I lab, a 91.7 A; in English Composition II a 95 A, but the papers we turned in haven't been graded yet and mine was turned in a day late for a letter grade lower; and in Nazism and the Holocaust, I really don't know because we haven't had a test yet. I wonder if we are having a midterm in that class or what. I still have to read both books for my book reports, but it shouldn't take too long I don't think.

So far so good. I am debating on whether to take a class or two during the summer or not. I mean, I only have four classes left to take and three of them are electives (social science, art and literature). I wish Calculus III was taught during the summer, but it's not. Next week on Monday is the day to register for Fall 2014 classes and I can't wait!

My ultimate goal for the semester is straight A's--I have to figure out some way to reward myself if I do reach that goal. A vacation maybe? I have a week at the beginning of June that I will need to take. Speaking of my job, I applied to Whole Foods on Broad St. (the new one) and also for an internship during the summer with a company called Textron. I really want the Textron one because the pay should be excellent and it will build up my resume' for when I get out of school. Either job would be nice though!

It's late now an I should be getting to bed. We have a truck in the morning. :(

Two months later (almost)

I can't believe I forgot about this blog. So much has happened since I last wrote...

Today was Mardi Gras and for the first time since I moved back home, I ended up staying home and catching up on some much-needed rest. The weather was actually really bad today anyway.

Two days ago, I adopted the most adorable pup in the world. He is half Pomeranian and half chihuahua and around two years old. He's a reddish-brown color with a whitish tail and white on his chest. He looks just like a fox in my opinion, so my best friend came up with the name Todd from "The Fox and the Hound." He hates looking at himself in the mirrow (he growls at himself lol), is very picky about his treats (he likes the cheapest ones, apparently) and he the best cuddle bug ever. He follows me everywhere except the bathroom -- He will only stand far away and look at me while I am in there. Ha! I have to take him to the vet soon to get his shots because I don't really know if he's had them or not. I want to get him microchipped and fixed too because he keeps marking. He doesn't do it at my house, but he does in strange houses and everywhere when I walk him.

What else? I am officially a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the official honor society of community colleges. :) I almost dropped my English class last night, but after discussing it with my sister, I've decided to just stick it out. It's a lot of work considering the rest of my schedule, but I don't want it to affect my financial aid for next semester. Speaking of, I need to start applying for scholarships for next year. Ahhh! lol. I have so much to do and so little time!

Oh, well.  I have work tomorrow and it's well past midnight so I should get some rest. Til next time!

My little Todd. :)
